It is such sadness to see the End of the Year Holidays over, When all the decorations are removed, And yet! There is a feeling of Hope & New Resolutions. Today the Downtown Christmas Tree & Decorations are being taken down.

Today is January 6 which means most of you have broken your resolutions. I wonder how many points we’ll get for, “Its the thought that counts”. O.K. admit it, Whether your New Years resolution lasted 6 hours or last all the way till who knows (Early Spring)! But For a certain amount of time you were a better person. Be Proud, and by the way, that shouldn’t get you off the hook, start over, as if today is January 1st.

Murphy, NC – First Friday, June 3, 2022 – The Biggest One Yet!

Exit Realty’s own Corky Vetten selling stars for a scholarship program.

First Friday rolls around again, Friday, June 3, 2022. According to the Valley River Arts Guild President, Debra Vanderlaan, this ought to be the largest First Friday Art Walk ever with over 40 vendors participating from 5-8 PM. There will be music on the square by local favorite, Doctor Paul, and other music in various FFAW participating venues. The Murphy Art Center “the MAC”, will also be hosting live music right inside the entrance. Ms. Vanderlaan mentioned that the MAC and FFAW allows the public to buy a wide variety of art directly from the artists at a great savings.

The Cherokee County Arts Council scheduled Doctor Paul, a contestant on the NBC show The Voice, Season 9 to play for us beginning at 5 PM. To hear some of his music visit his YouTube channel, or his website DoctorPaulMusic.com.

Patriotic Stars for Mountain Lakes Board of Realtors Scholarship Program.

These stars are a project of the Mountain Lakes Board of Realtors to help local seniors from Cherokee, Clay, Graham County and Nantahala High School with the costs of some of their education.
